I graduated from Trinity College Dublin in June 2002 with a B.A. (Mod) in Chemistry. For my Senior Sophister project, I worked under the supervision of Dr Peter H. Boyle and his research group. Following my degree, I began my postgraduate studies with Prof. Thorfinnur Gunnlaugsson and Dr Paul E. Kruger in October 2002. My research project involves the synthesis and evaluation of urea- and thiourea-based molecules as anion sensors. Anion sensing is quite a recent development and is generating a huge interest in the field of supramolecular chemistry, especially since anions play a key role in biological and environmental matters.

My interests outside Chemistry? I should really say "None as chemistry is my life!" but I can't, hehe! I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I like learning new languages and am currently taking Japanese language (Nihongo) classes. I also love reading manga and watching anime. I have a creative side to myself hence this website (and others) and my manga-style drawings. Item top of my wish list is to visit Japan!
