I have just started my Ph.D. in the group of Thorri Gunnlaugsson
at Trinity College Dublin, having briefly toured the western USA
for a while during the summer. The project I have undertaken is
concerned with the synthesis, characterisation and evaluation of
novel anti-cancer agents. I obtained my primary degree in medicinal
chemistry from Trinity College Dublin in 2004. My undergraduate
project was carried out at the Institute of Medicinal Chemistry,
Madrid. It involved the synthesis of “twin drugs” incorporating
μ-opioid and I2-IBS binding functionality. My interests outside
of chemistry include travelling, hiking, reading and sadly television.
Luckily I live on campus here in Trinity and am the recipient of an
IRCSET postgraduate award.
