Athena SWAN 2015 - 2018 self-assessment team:

• Maria Daniela Angione Maria Daniela Angione is a Research Fellow in the School of Chemistry since 2013. Before moving to Trinity College Dublin, she was a Marie Curie fellow at the University of Manchester (UK), and a Visiting Researcher at the University of Texas at Austin (USA). She is married with a 14 months old son.
• Peter Brien Peter Brien is a Chief Technical Officer in the School. He has 15 years of experience in technical roles, primarily in teaching laboratories. Peter has worked to promote flexible work practices for technical staff in the School and is passionate about equality and diversity within the technical cohort across Trinity and Ireland.
• Susan Cantwell As Executive Officer for the Trinity Centre for Gender Equality and Leadership, Susan coordinates the schedule of activities. She works part time and has two children.
• Sylvia Draper An active researcher and Professor of Inorganic and Synthetic Chemistry, Sylvia chairs the ASSAT Committee. She is also the Irish representative on the RSC HCUK standing committee, an elected member of College Board, and was the first female head of the School of Chemistry. Sylvia is married with four children.
• Eileen Drew Eileen is a Professor in Computer Science & Statistics, Director of WiSER (Women in Science and Engineering Research), gender expert, and a Fellows’ representative on Board. She has 2 grown-up children who work in the private sector in Toronto/New York. Eileen is an ex officio member of the Chemistry ASSAT team.
• Eva-Maria Dürr Eva is a Ph.D. student in the School of Chemistry. She has been a student representative on both school and college committees. As a feminist and member of the LGBTQ+ community she is passionate about visibility and has organised student careers events with strong female representation.
• Mike Lyons Born in Cork city, Mike Lyons has taught and researched in Physical Chemistry in Trinity College Dublin since his appointment in 1984. He is a Fellow of Trinity College Dublin and currently serves as Head of School and Professor in Physical Chemistry. He is married with three adult children and one granddaughter.
• Aidan McDonald Aidan McDonald is an Associate Professor of Inorganic Chemistry. He has been a member of the School of Chemistry Integer and Athena SWAN committees since their inception. Aidan has experience in a variety of international academic settings and is passionate about ensuring equality in academia.
• Parvaneh Mokarian Parvaneh is a Principal Investigator in AMBER and the School of Chemistry. She is passionate about science. Her inspiration for her work comes from nature, and currently her research is related to biomimicking. She is the winner of the “One-to-Watch” Trinity Innovation Awards 2017.
• Isabel Rozas Isabel Rozas is from Madrid, Spain. After international experience in Spain and Canada, she joined the School of Chemistry as a Lecturer in Medicinal Chemistry in 2000, later on becoming Professor in 2010. Throughout her life, she has been active in the defence of human and women’s rights. She is married and has a daughter that is studying for a PhD in the STEM sector.
• Noelle Scully Noelle is the Coodinator of Fresh Teaching in the School of Chemistry. Coming from a farming back ground in rural Ireland, she is passionate about promoting access to STEM and plays an active role in the School’s outreach activities. She is married and has two energetic children aged 5 and 6.
• Graeme Watson Graeme is head of Physical, Computational, and Materials Chemistry. He came to Ireland in 2000 with a young family and has since been promoted through the ranks to a Personal Chair in Theoretical Chemistry serving as Head of School, Director of UG teaching, Director of PG teaching, Science Course Director, and on University Council.
