Ph.D Student: New Porphyrins as Potent Photosensitizer
My research interest is focusing on the construction of a library of new porphyrins as potent photosensitizers (PS) derived from foscan that is clinically approved in photodynamic cancer therapy. For this, a series of symmetrically and unsymmetrically meso-substituted porphyrins has been successfully synthesized, in both small and large scale for screening of their efficiency in photodynamic therapy (PDT) applications. Likewise synthesis an amphiphilic structure as an efficient photosensitizer for (PDT) . This can be achieved via introduction of hydrophilic and hydrophobic residues. It will increase the solubility in water and improve the membrane passage of the drugs.
