We usually have at least one funded PhD position to fill each year and in addition their are oportunites from the Irish Research Council and College funding schemes detailed below

Current funded vacancies


There are current vacancies for a postdoctoral postion (2 years in the first instance) and two postgradate positions. All of these are part of a project investigating aspects of solid oxide fuel cells using a combination of force field and density functional theory modelling. Interested candiates should send a CV, the names of two (three in the case of hte postdoc positon) referees and a cover letter explaining your interest in the post and in modelling.



The Irish Research Council Studentships

The Irish Research Council offers scholorships at the postgraduate level through a competitive process on an annual basis. The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholorship is intended to support suitably qualified Research Masterís and Doctoral candidates pursuing or intending to pursue full-time research in any discipline, based in an Irish HEI.

Applications are accepted through an online application system which is accessed through their website ( http://www.research.ie/ ). Applications usually open in late January and close at the beggining of March.

The Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Scheme

The Irish Reesearch Council also offers Fellowships to candidates who wish to pursue a defined programme of work after the PhD award in target host laboratories. This work is under the direction of the Fellow but with the assistance of a nominated mentor at the host location.

Applications open late January and normally close mid March - see http://www.research.ie/ for details.

Trinity College Student awards

TCD offers to excellent candidates either full funding of 16000 Euro + EU fees(there is only a few of these) and partial funding (8000 Euro + fees) towards PhD costs. All candiadates for PhD places must fill in the relevent Trinity application forms and hence the application for these is part of the normal procedure.
