The aim of my research is to produce electrochemical supercapacitors using two dimensional layered materials and analyse these supercapacitors using in situ electrochemistry techniques.

In situ electrochemistry uses powerful electron microscopy tools to allow us to analyse how capacitive devices chemically and physically degrade as they are charged and discharged. By using in situ electrochemistry, we can determine the effectiveness and efficiency of new capacitor devices. The devices themselves are produced using a range of two dimensional layered materials and new material deposition techniques.

I received a B.A in Physics from Trinity College Dublin in 2014 before joining Prof. Nicolosi’s group as a PhD student.
