..multidisciplinary methods for a range of electrode fabrications, assembly and testing for two-dimensional advanced supercapacitor and Li-ion batteries..

Dr. John CF Zhang (Dr. Chuanfang Zhang) received a BSc with honours in Chemical Engineering from Northwest University for Nationalities (Lanzhou, China) in June, 2009. In September 2009, he entered East China University of Science and Technology (Shanghai, China) to study for a Master's and in September 2011, he started his PhD at the same university. In November 2012, he was selected to conduct his research at Drexel University (Philadelphia, USA), working under the supervision of Prof Yury Gogotsi. He received a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering in March 2015

During his PhD study, he developed various nano-architectures of transition metal oxide/carbon composites, such as RuO2/C, Nb2O5/C and TiO2/C, with different morphology and crystallinity; he studied their electrochemical behaviour in pseudocapacitors and Li-ion batteries. During research at Drexel, he was the responsible researcher for a Drexel-UCLA collaboration project funded by US Department of Energy, working with Prof. Bruce Dunn. In March 2015 he joined CRANN, Trinity College Dublin, as a postdoctoral research fellow, working with Prof. Valeria Nicolosi and collaborating with Prof. Jonathan Coleman on two dimensional materials for advanced supercapacitors and Li-ion batteries.

During his research experience, he has developed multidisciplinary methods for electrode fabrication, and assembled and tested three- and two-electrode configuration devices, in addition to data analysis and problem shooting. He also has further research interests in developing flexible and transparent energy storage devices, photocatalysis and fuel cells, and he is always willing and welcome to all kinds of collaborations.
