..in-situ atomic resolution microscopy study of various layered 2D materials..

I received both my master’s degree and PhD in Materials Science from JNCASR, Bangalore, India under the guidance of Dr. Ranjan Datta. During my PhD, I explored monochromated EELS as a characterization tool at nanoscale to study band gaps and core absorption spectra on various materials like ZnO, magnetic spinel oxides, transition metal dichalcogenides etc. along with electronic structure calculations by DFT

My current research interest involves in-situ atomic resolution microscopy study of various layered 2D materials

“But I must confess I am jealous of the term atom; for though it is very easy to talk of atoms, it is very difficult to form a clear idea of their nature.” Michael Faraday said this in the context of electrochemistry in the year 1833.
But today he would rather be proud for it is possible to watch atoms as they change nature during a chemical reaction using a state-of-the-art electron microscope!!!
